What's "Tuki no Musi"?
"Tuki (Tsuki) " means the moon."Musi (Mushi) " means insect.
There is a Japanese expression, "Mushi no Shirase" (a premonition from an insect).
It is generally used to refer to a bad premonition, but we use it to mean "valuing my sixth sense".
When turning off the kiln fire, and the condition of the wheel-throwing,
we create our products while valuing our "Mushi no Shirase".

【 Somekan 】
The fine crazing in white Satsuma is unique and mysterious.
The pattern and thickness of the crazing will vary subtly depending on the maker's clay, glaze, and firing method.
Its appearance is usually modest, hidden by the beauty of the overglaze painting.
Enjoy the world of crazing dyed with natural pigments in this series.
【 Dorokan 】
A thin layer of slip was applied to the dried clay, and the crazing that appeared on the surface was then painted with black Satsuma glazed and fired.
This is an original technique used at our kiln.
Although the process requires many firings and is a lot of work, each piece has a unique texture, is full of individuality, and allows you to fully experience the feel of the clay.
There is also a "mushikui" (worm-eaten) type, in which the cracks have been intentionally scraped away and secured with a black glaze.
【 Tumugimon 】
The pattern of Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional craft of Amami Oshima, is printed on Satsuma ware.
This series is a collaboration between two traditional crafts.
The design and production of the tsumugi pattern was handled by Oshima Tsumugi dyer Mr.Umutara.
Enjoy a new type of Satsuma ware that combines the realism of Oshima Tsumugi with designs typical of Kagoshima.
